SWEETENERS
Adirondack fruit flavored spring water, Clear'n'Natural and Waist Watcher
Diet soft drinks are made using a blend of two sweeteners sucralose
(Splenda brand) and acesulfame potassium (ace-K). They have replaced
the aspartame that was used to sweeten our diet beverages. Like
aspartame, these new sweeteners are also classified as artificial
sweeteners. Both sweeteners were approved by the Food and Drug
Administration in 1998. Consumers and taste panels have told us
that the combination of sucralose and ace-K in the diet soda result
in a taste similar to a non-diet soda. These sweeteners are designed
to enhance the flavor as well as extend the shelf-life of the
product.
Sucralose is actually derived from sugar, but is not metabolized
by the body. Like aspartame, both sucralose (Splenda Brand) and
ace-K, can be consumed by diabetics. For additional information
regarding these sweeteners, please feel free to contact us or
