THE WATER WORKS
SPRING WATER - Water derived from an underground formation which flows naturally to the surface.
AQUIFER - An underground reservoir of water surrounded by porous rock, sand and gravel.
WELL WATER - Water from a hole drilled into the ground which taps an aquifer.
ARTESIAN WATER - Water from a well in which the water level stands above the natural water table due to underground pressure that forces the water towards the surface.
MINERAL WATER - Water containing not less than 250 parts per million of total dissolved solids obtained from one or more springs which originate from an underground source.
SPARKLING BOTTLED WATER - Naturally carbonated water that, after treatment and possible replacement of carbon dioxide, contains the same amount of carbon dioxide that it had at emergence from the source.
SPARKLING WATER - Water with carbonation added during the bottling process.
SELTZER - Water with added carbonation, usually at a much higher level then Sparkling Water.
PURIFIED WATER - Water from any source which is produced by distillation, deionization, reverse osmosis, and/or other suitable processes and meets the definition of "purified water" in the U.S. Pharmacopoeia.
